The personality test recommends a partner, but you may reject that result and select another starter. The starter table compares actual game stats and starting behavior, not main-series competitive strength.

- Pick a style you can control safely.
Numbers & conditions
27 regional starter species plus Psyduck and Slowpoke make 29. Starting attacks include Ember, Water Gun, Vine Whip, Razor Leaf, Bubble and Confusion.
Common mistakes
You can reject the personality-test suggestion and choose another starter. Main-series BST or rarity does not replace its actual starting attack, and an unowned legendary is not an immediate opening option.
